Sorry, this item has sold.

The 56 - 6001 is one of Gaultier's most extravagant and astonishing creations: Based on a bold motorcycle goggle geometry with thick temples, Gaultier added breathtakingly beautiful silver metal details. To crown this unique design, the silver metal continues to surround the lenses, firmly holding them in place with an additional screw mechanism. Simply and truly one of the most genius combinations of form and function in 1980s eyewear. A true masterpiece, a frame like no other.

Jean Paul Gaultier was at the avant-garde of eyewear design in the 1980's. Although Japan was by far the most expensive place of production for eyewear frames at that time, Gaultier did not want to settle with anything less than the best craftsmanship for his sunglasses. Unlike most other designers, he did not license his brand to a big eyewear manufacturer but instead kept a minute supervision of the design and production of his sunglasses by legendary manufacturer Murai Japan.
