Christian Dior D 60 Vintage Sunglasses
Made in Austria in the 1970s. This frame has recently been reissued by Christian Dior by Kering. This is the original.
This D 60 frame is in very good vintage condition. There are several scratches on the lenses (see fotos), some of them in the line of vision. It can still be worn and loved with these vintage lenses, but if the scratches bother you, i recommend fitting them with new lenses. This will still run you a lot cheaper than a deadstock D 60, if you ever find one, or even the recent reissue of this design by Christian Dior by Kering. The scratches on the lenses have been severely reflected on the price.
One frame to rule them all: The extremely rare D 60 is one of the most iconic early Dior designs manufactured in Austria by Carrera Optyl. A timeless architecture with a protruding brow bar provinding additional sun protection. Oversized straight temples, both stylish and comfortable. The amazing thing about this design is that it takes unisex to another level. It will look virile or sensual depending on the person wearing it. An instant classic in the late 1970s, the D 60 has lost none of its attraction up until today. There is simply nothing comparable to this frame made of Optyl with classic CD logos on temples.
Optyl is a material created by Willhelm Anger's Carrera company especially for the eyewear industry, it features shape memory and had new properties which enabled surface coloring.
Manufactured and licensed by Carrera Optyl, who also produced Porsche Design, Christian Lacroix, Paloma Picasso and many other fashion brand licenses at the time.
